4th Chakra: I’ve Got Ssssh Sssh , Steam Heat

Wednesday, October 28th, 2009

It is October 27th, and I can’t get my body temperature right.

Its officially Fall around 35-45 deg F outside so the downstairs heater is now turned on. But during the day around noon the house gets too hot. So I ( as we say in Rhode Island), I opens the window upstairs to cool off . But then I think I am wasting oil ….so I go downstairs again and turn the heater off. only to find that  ten minutes later, my toes are freezing!  So I go back down stairs and turn  the heater on again and close the window upstairs. About an hour later, this entire heater/window on/off open/shut cycle is repeated again as the house begins to feel steamy hot again. I feel like I am losing my mind! I can’t get my body temperature right.

I was watching Gossip Girl last night on CW network.  Just to be part of the tribe. Everyone seems to be watching this show. Gossip Girl this, Gossip Girl that. In People Magazine, on the Red carpet in some way shape or form is from this show there are comments about the cast of Gossip Girl. Last night’s show was a Halloween show, and other than a basic Peyton Place/Soap Opera format, the show was pretty boring except that even though it was fall, everyone of the girls/woman wore very skimpy clothing. And no-one ever looked liked they were freezing.

So why am I gossiping about CW’s Gossip Girl? Because if we look at the clothing styles on that show we can learn an awful lot about body temperature regulation, hormones and aging. These days, during the teens and 20’s people don’t seem to ever freeze or have body temperature issues. A specific fashion sense that dove-tales with mating rituals  seems to override any need to dress for the weather. On Gossip Girl and similar shows one can see spaghetti straps and midriffs on women from November to May even in very cold temperature outdoor temperatures…

Body temperature regulation problems , i.e. A tendency of feeling like your freezing cold or boiling up with heat, is a complex problem that Western Medicine handles poorly. Other than testing your thyroid function, or giving you a diagnosis of peri-menopause, there is little to do for the person who always needs a sweater, but then is always taking it off and putting it back on again.

It takes 7 chakras to regulate your temperature. From 1st chakra Immune System to 4th Chakra Cardio vascular system and onward, the solution are more than Synthroid, Armour Thyroid Extract and putting the heat up and / or opening the window.

This weeks Radio show is entitled incidentally “Great Balls of Fire: Heart Flashes, Panic Attacks and Beyond” so if you are having trouble keeping your body temp on an even key please tune into www.Hayhouseradio.com. Please let me know on this blog how you have solved the temp wars in your home.

Squirreling Behavior

Its fall, the days are getting shorter and I have that annual compulsion like the squirrels to shop around for those staples, to collect  the “nuts” and bolts of what I think I will need to survive for the upcoming winter. For the furry animals outside, the objects collected stored and hoarded for future use are acorns and other food, twigs, leaves and other blankets to survive the months of snow and ice. And even though I am in the safety of my own warm home I and maybe you have the same “squirreling”instinct, having a compulsion to buy and store up food and “things”  for the winter we may in fact not necessarily even need.

You think I’m making up that term aren’t you? Squirreling instinct…Its actually a true phenomenon. An instinct that is buried deep in our brain and covered up by the normal development of our frontal lobes. For instance,  when we develop a dementia like Alzheimer’s disease, and our frontal lobe atrophies (shrinks, disappears) this squirreling behavior comes out. You may see older patients with dementia in a nursing home cafeteria, when these individuals are anxious or depressed, they  begin to sneak salt and pepper shakers, plastic flowers or other useless items into their purse. In fact, these patients may surreptitiously go into other peoples’ rooms and grab  clothing underwear, not even their size and other useless items and stick them into their purse before slipping away. And when faced with the music, the “shopper” will claim.” who me? these are mine. I bought them from the store.”

If you begin shopping around , impulsively shopping for items especially ridiculous items in the fall, beware. This mare be a sign that you have a seasonal affective disorder (SAD) or a mood problem  and tendency toward anxiety which  both are get more out of balance with the colder, darker months.  Catalog companies know this and they send us their pamphlets on these rainy October days….all of their items look extremely tempting *think plastic flowers in the nursing home cafeteria” but I am sure if I perused this same catalog in July I would laugh at the stuff the company is trying to unload. You want some examples?  A very expensive catalog who shall remain nameless. Exclusive Handbook Candle $38.00 (the candle is 1″ high”.). A magnifying glass and letter opener caught my eye “Glitzy heart detailed desk accessories crafted of silver-tone brass and purple crystals. $115.00. But my favorite that almost got me to get my card out was the  Exclusive Turquoise File Box-”Painted in an eye-catching turquoise  hue, this hand-crafted composite wood file box with stand holds legal and letter-sized files.  $294 incl shipping.  I am still haunted by the turquoise file box. Every-time I look at it in the catalog, it does elevate my mood and soothe my anxiety as much as that shopping expedition to JCrew did last weekend. But beware. Shopping, or RT “Retail Therapy” does have a therapeutic effect of raising self esteem, mood and reducing anxiety by releasing opiates. (look up my Turquoise File Box on the web and you will see what I mean). How ever a similar pharmaceutical effect can be obtained by many other methods without the associated credit card costs and interest fees. It appears that we can learn to love ourselves and improve our mood without incurring debt and acquiring “things” “squirreling” away item after item. Jennifer Lopez had it right. My Love don’t cost a thing and its “not available in stores”.

2nd Chakra: Still Crazy after all these years: PMS, Moodiness, Irritibility and Hormonally-related Rejection Sensitivity

Wednesday, October 14th, 2009

I just got back from watching the movie Whip-It with Drew Barrymore..I saw it for the 2nd time. There’s something about that movie that’s very fulfilling. Women’s rollerderby- now if that’s now a display of moodiness on wheels I don’t know what is. In one episode, Maggie Mayhem, the captain is trying to explain to Babe Ruthless (Ellen Page) how she learned how to be more violent on the track. Maggie talks about forcing herself to remember those times when she had contracted a venereal disease from a boyfriend and how rejected and unspecial and enraged she felt..Maggie Mayhem has it right. Relationships, rage, and the 2nd chakra make good bedfellows for bad or for good.

This week’s radio show is about Still Crazy After All these years: PMS, Moodiness, Irritibility and Hormonally-related Rejection Sensitivity. The 2nd chakra, is that area of your body includes your reproductive organs and hormones but also includes your lower back, hips and urinary tract. The health of your 2nd chakra is dependent upon how well you balance relationships and finances, your heart in one hand, and your wallet (or purse) in the other. PMS, Moodiness, Irritibility and Hormonally Rejection Sensitivity are all part of your 2nd Chakra Intuitive Advisor that lets you know that you are struggling to stay on your feet financially or maintain your footing in a relationship.

Please use this blog to let me know what hormonally craziness you have struggled with over the years and what you have done to survive the 2nd chakra relationship and financial mayhem.
