Its the new year 2010, January and every day here in Maine, its snow , snow and more snow. Gloom, gloom and more gloom. And we are all freezing our rear ends off. The last decade of problems have not disappeared even though its now 2010. If you have a life threatening economic problem,if you have a life threatening emotional and physical problem, how on earth, does one find strength , stamina and faith to survive and even thrive?
The epitome of a tragedy we hear about is the old plane crash. Who hasn’t heard by now about the “Miracle on the Hudson” about that US Airways flight 1549 airplane that had a bird get sucked into its engine, cause the engine to die and the plane to have to make a miraculous landing into the Hudson. They say that dozen of people on flight were praying en unison and faith in a higher Divine Power coupled with depending on a wonderfully trained human pilot brought the miracle. People who come in- between the cross-hairs of extra-ordinary events where Heaven and Earth cooperate to bring about the seeming impossible, are never ever the same physically and emotionally.
When faced with a life-threatening event, the high stress can change your brain’s perception of reality. Maybe this is our in-born machinery for a mystical experience because we are all capable of having one during life-threatening, the highest stress states. How? Whether its the Car Crash, the surgery, the plane crash, that excruciating emotional tragedy, extreme stress releases Cortisol, Norepinephrine, opiates, changes in oxygen and God-know’s what else (pun intended) which stun your temporal lobe brain areas and then… Time, space, and what you can see and hear become more adapted toward mysticism.
During one plane crash, a survivor said that he saw the white steamy-like clouds, leaving peoples bodies. As he was trying to claw his way out of the fuselage, he noticed that some people’s clouds were huge, while others were very small. This crash survivor was a very normal, non-new age kind-of guy. Later, he learned that these white things were probably the soul auras as that were leaving the crash victims bodies. The bigger the aura, the greater the life purpose/ the deeds that the person had while on the earth. From that day on, that plane crash survivor developed faith that he had never had before. And that day he began to try to live more fully. Because he wanted one of those big souls.
